King George and Broadswords! shouted loyalists as they charged across partially dismantled Moores Creek Bridge on February 27, 1776. Just beyond the bridge nearly a 1,000 North Carolina patriots waited quietly with cannons and muskets poised to fire. This dramatic victory ended British rule in the colony forever.

This annual event is just so much FUN! Riding the rural roads around the historic Moore's Creek National Battlefield is relaxing for the novice and by adding the distances offered can be challenging for the best of riders. The Cape Fear Cyclists do a great job of marking the courses, SAG support, water, food and companionship all day. The whole family can ride together or, spend time in the park with history trails a museum and interpretive center.
