Now that Blackhorn has reopened, we thought we'd give it a shot. They have a new menu that is more bar oriented than their last (burgers, fried junk, etc). After waiting 15 minutes to place our order (there was a bartender and 3 waitresses and only one other table) we decided upon some items that were middle-of-the-road, that we figured certainly no one would be able to mess up. We were dead wrong. The items we received were nothing as they were described on the menu. They might as well have just given us whatever they felt like, because that's what they pretty much did. Needless to say, we will not be giving any more business to this sticky, musty dump of a "restaurant." Too bad because we're local and places like this rely on us in the winter.
I have never in my life been to such a disorganized don’t give hoot restaurant! We were the only table in there ordering food. First I would like to know how a Bacardi Coke tall turns into rum with cocktail sauce? How the manager can sit at the bar playing with his laptop while our server spent over 20 minutes typing in our order in the POS. After 50 minutes we were told the tableside guacamole was not available and would we like to order another appetizer but low and behold guacamole was delivered to our table followed by two of three entrees then followed by the other appetizer of Tequila Lime Shrimp. So the guacamole was not freshly made but made with avocados and a powdered mix and chips were stale, the Tequila Lime Shrimp was loaded with jalapeños and almost inedible. After much disgust we took the rest of the food home. The entrees ordered were Baby Back Ribs were actually spare ribs, Ahi Tuna center cut steak was actually Mahi Mahi (two different fish) never did receive my side of brown rice, Salmon actually was Salmon but the portion was unbelievably small and it overcooked. Not too mention the bonus of hair in the ribs and the Au Gratin Potatoes.
When we complained to the On Duty Manager he offered us a round of drinks then after much ado he said he would take half off. We ended up paying $17 and some change. The server kept saying its not my fault. When I asked the manager if he trained his staff he said we do not train our staff we hire experienced servers. Well if they hire experience staff I would really like to know from where the All You Can Eat Buffets? So I tell all if you are up to a frustrating time consuming dining experience then all means go spend your money at the Black Horn Bar and Kitchen!
